Council approves Hays County election services contract and joint election agreement for May 3, 2025

City Secretary Tammy Heller told the Wimberley City Council on Jan. 16 that the city has a standard contract with the Hays County Elections Administrator to provide election services for local elections and presented the contract for the May 3, 2025 general election.
Heller said the contract language is unchanged from prior years, has been reviewed by the city’s legal counsel and that the city will formally call the election at the Feb. 6 council meeting. She also presented a required joint election agreement with Hays County for use of the countywide polling program and a cost‑sharing formula.
Staff said the city’s fees for the most recent election were approximately $1,400 and that the city has $6,000 budgeted for election costs. Heller noted the city adopted a new sign policy in November that affects where and how campaign signs may be posted at the community center and said staff can provide guidance and a printed handout to candidates.
Council approved the contract with the Hays County Elections Administrator and the joint election agreement by unanimous votes.
Ending: Heller said staff will bring a formal election order to the Feb. 6 council meeting and provide candidates with sign‑posting guidance under the new policy.
