The board recognized multiple students at the meeting and heard a student-representative update from Key Club about upcoming community-service events.
Key Club representatives told the board the club removed hallway decorations after winter break and is planning the annual senior-citizen day on March 27, which will include a preview of the spring musical and a bingo session with lunch provided. They also said Key Club will participate in the annual youth day of caring on March 28 at City Island, where volunteers plant trees, rake leaves, paint trash cans and pick up litter.
High school Principal Mister Fratt presented two students of the month, Cassidy Pomeraning and Sean Stott, and described the selection criteria as academics, behavior, attendance and character. Cassidy and Sean each spoke briefly about their activities and future plans — Cassidy listed AP coursework, Science Olympiad and volleyball; Sean said he plans a gap year to explore video production and has a backup plan in graphic design.
The board also recognized several other students as Rotary students of the month and noted that district coaches and staff mentor the students. The administration thanked board members during school-board recognition month for their service to the district.
