Special‑education director outlines early‑intervention outreach and Patton partnership

“We meet with parents, we meet with the people who are providing their early intervention services, and we tell them about all the great things that are happening at Chester‑Upland,” Dr. Lehi said; the team held a virtual meeting last week and planned an in‑person meeting the following week.
Dr. Lehi said the district continues a collaboration with Patton for autism supports; Patton consultants work with teachers, paraprofessionals and provider staff to provide professional development, coaching and classroom support. She said several staff attended a three‑day Patton Autism Initiative boot camp and that the district has participated in IDEA training across four sessions.
Dr. Lehi also said the district is beginning an audit of its emotional‑support program, starting at the high school and planning to expand systemwide, and that she is working with Patton’s emotional‑support consultant to review programming and ensure rigor.
Board members did not take formal action on special‑education items during the meeting; several settlement agreements related to special education are on the agenda but were treated as confidential.
