North Ridgeville council adopts peddlers penalty ordinance; several first readings scheduled

The North Ridgeville City Council on Jan. 21 adopted an ordinance amending section 854.99 (penalty) of the North Ridgeville Codified Ordinances, which covers peddlers, canvassers and solicitors. The motion to adopt (Ordinance 2024-142) was moved by Councilmember Winkle and seconded by Councilmember DeVries. The roll call vote was Evans — yes; Winkle — yes; DeVries — yes; Jacobs — yes. The motion carried 4-0.
Clerk read a planning commission action regarding the South Central Park playground at 7565 Avon Belden Road (permanent parcel 0700022101054). The planning commission approved the playground removal and replacement proposal by a 5-0 vote; the applicant is listed as Jeff Snyder of Snyder Recreation, 10139 Royalton Road, Suite K, North Royalton, Ohio. The clerk said that item will appear on the next council agenda.
Council members also heard a list of items introduced on first reading and intended for later consideration. Those included a resolution to accept $250,000 from the Ohio Department of Development under the Abandoned Gas Station Cleanup Grant program (2025-2); a resolution to adopt Vision Zero and the Lorain County Comprehensive Safety Action Plan (2025-3); an application by Frank and Don Kripka and FCA Kids Farm LLC for designation of land within an agricultural district (2025-4); an ordinance amending Chapter 1064.02 regarding the multi-service center and dissolving the multipurpose room board of trustees (2025-5); and an ordinance to amend Chapter 1062 (cemeteries) to add a columbarium (2025-6). Council did not take final action on those first-reading items on Jan. 21.
City staff announced a public hearing on Feb. 3, 2025 at 6:45 p.m. in council chambers for the agricultural district request; the regular council meeting on Feb. 3 begins at 7 p.m.
