Council approves bills and two resolutions; Feb. 3 public hearings set for daycare conditional use and rezoning

The Hoover City Council on Jan. 21 took several routine actions by voice vote and scheduled two public hearings for Feb. 3.

The council approved payment of bills and approved minutes for Dec. 12, Dec. 16, Jan. 2 and Jan. 6 by voice vote. The council then approved Resolution 8367-25, authorizing Mayor Brocato or his designee to execute an agreement with Brentwood Services Administrators for worker’s compensation third-party-administrator services; council staff said the agreement renewal covers a three-year term and listed several large institutional Brentwood clients. Ms. Carrier described the renewal during the meeting.

The council also approved Resolution 8368-25, a budget amendment to upgrade one police officer position to a police sergeant position (sergeant over the intelligence unit and city camera/security responsibilities). Human-resources staff said the total cost of upgrading the position is $150,789.79. Chief representatives described the sergeant role as managing the newly created intelligence unit and the city’s camera systems.

Council members scheduled public hearings for Feb. 3 on two first-reading items: a conditional-use request (Resolution 8365-25) to change a day-care-home classification to a group-care-home at 3599 Deerfield Drive with conditions, and Ordinance 25-2664, a rezoning request to rezone 2020 Trammell Chase Drive to R-1 single-family residential with conditions. Planning staff recommended both items for a positive recommendation and provided the conditions that will accompany the hearings.
