The College Place Planning Commission elected Angie Peters as chair and retained Todd Reiswig as vice chair during its Jan. 21 meeting, and the commission approved the consent agenda, the commission announced.
Peters volunteered to serve as chair; the commission seconded and approved the nomination by voice vote. Commissioner Kirby Brown seconded approval of the consent agenda after Commissioner Angie Peters moved to approve the minutes and the night's agenda. The chair declared both motions carried.
Commissioners discussed chair duties and expectations before the vote, with staff explaining the role’s primary responsibilities: calling the meeting to order, running hearings, and keeping procedural order. “Primarily, it’s … calling the meeting to order. When we have a hearing … you’re running the hearing,” City staff member John Rickard said while describing duties.
Vice-chair nominations followed. Commissioner Todd Reiswig said he preferred to remain vice chair due to scheduling conflicts in the summer related to fire-season commitments; commissioners accepted his preference and nominated him to continue in the role. The nomination was seconded and approved by voice vote.
The commission thanked outgoing commissioner Kirby Brown, who said he is moving out of College Place and will leave the commission after the meeting.
Votes at a glance: consent agenda — motion to approve (mover: Angie Peters; second: Kirby Brown) — approved by voice vote; chair — Angie Peters (self-nomination, seconded) — elected by voice vote; vice chair — Todd Reiswig (nominated to continue) — approved by voice vote. The meeting record did not include a roll-call tally for these voice votes.
