The Consumer Protection & Business Committee on Jan. 21 voted to report House Bill 1006 out of committee with a due‑pass recommendation.
Committee staff summarized the bill as modifying the financial responsibility provisions for protection product guarantee providers and service contract providers for motor vehicles and changing requirements for reimbursement insurance policies covering service contracts and protection product guarantees. Representative Ryu and Representative Dufault both spoke in support during executive action, saying that adding protection product guarantees to the statute language and clarifying financial responsibility is a positive change.
Vice Chair David Hackney moved the bill out of committee. The motion carried by voice vote; the standing committee report form recorded 15 members present and 15 members voting in the affirmative. The committee deferred action on House Bill 1066 for a minor amendment being worked on elsewhere.
The committee closed executive action and adjourned.
