Seven South Colonie students selected for NYSSMA Area All-State festival recognized by board

The board recognized seven South Colonie students chosen to perform at the New York State School Music Association (NYSSMA) Area All-State Festival in Schenectady on Nov. 8'9. The students were selected based on high adjudicated NYSSMA solo scores and teacher recommendations.
Dr. Perry and board members congratulated the students and thanked music director Kenneth Stracci for his remarks. Mr. Stracci described the Area All-State selection as the musical equivalent of regional athletics: Zone 7 covers Albany and surrounding counties and admits top performers who earned scores of 95 or higher at high-level NYSSMA solo auditions. He praised the students as "top notch" and described performing at Proctor's Theatre as an outstanding experience for them.
The board named the seven students and invited the community to future music events; the district also noted that 22 students would participate in the Suburban Council Music Festival the coming weekend and encouraged public attendance.
