School committee forms nonunion salary working group; members raise concern about substitute pay and committee renaming proposals

Members reviewed several proposed committee-name and scope changes, including keeping a Ways and Means title, renaming planned maintenance to Buildings and Grounds, retaining Policy and Procedure as a clear public-facing name, keeping Safety and Security as is rather than switching to School Climate, and adding a “Belonging” component to DEI committee naming. The committee agreed to bring a motion updating committee structures and to vote on a naming change (student supports vs. health and special education) at the committee’s 6 p.m. session.
