Schertz council approves consent agenda 6–0; sign ordinance and utility‑extension resolution tabled
Summary

Schertz City Council voted 6–0 Tuesday to approve the consent agenda, including the minutes, appointments and three resolutions; the council also tabled two separate agenda items for further consideration.
Mayor Ralph Gutierrez called for approval of consent agenda items 1 through 5 and Council member Watson moved to approve, with Council member Hayward seconding. The mayor announced “6 ayes, no objections,” and the motion passed.
The consent items listed in the meeting packet were: item 1 — minutes; item 2 — appointments/reappointments/resignations; item 3 — Resolution No. 25R007; item 4 — Resolution No. 25R001; and item 5 — Resolution No. 25R012. The motion to approve was recorded by the mayor as unanimous among council members present (Westbrook, Davis, Watson, Macaluso, Hayward and Brown).
Separately, the council listed ordinance 25S004 for consideration (amendments to Part 3 of the Schertz Code of Ordinances, Unified Development Code, Article 11 Section 21.11.6 prohibited signs and Section 25.11.17 temporary signs). Staff requested the ordinance discussion be delayed; the council left item 6 tabled to be discussed at a future meeting.
Agenda item 7, Resolution No. 25R005, described in the agenda as approving a utility service extension requested for the Woman Hollering Townhomes, required council consultation with legal counsel under Texas Government Code Section 551.071. The council convened into closed session (start time recorded as 6:27 p.m.) and reconvened at 7:11 p.m.; after the closed session the mayor announced item 7 would be tabled and brought back at the council’s next meeting. No formal votes on item 6 or item 7 were taken Tuesday.
The council’s next scheduled meetings noted during the session include a canvass of the runoff election on Jan. 28 and a regular meeting on Feb. 4; the SSLGC ratification item was scheduled for Feb. 18.
