Ogden public-works employees honored by APWA Utah chapter

The Ogden City Council recognized two public-works employees after the Utah chapter of the American Public Works Association (APWA) named them 2024 professionals of the year in their fields.
Justin Anderson, executive director of public services, introduced the recognition. Heather Wadman, sanitary sewer principal engineer and president-elect of the APWA Utah chapter, presented awards to Gina Arellano, who received the chapter—s Solid Waste Professional of the Year award, and to Randy Stain, who was recognized as the Outstanding Wastewater Management Professional of the Year.
Council member Hyer read a formal recognition noting Randy Stain had served Ogden City for more than 31 years and retired earlier in the month; Hyer praised Stain—s hands-on leadership and long service. Council members and the mayor applauded both awardees for their work keeping the city—s refuse and wastewater systems running.
The council posed for photographs with the award recipients and offered public thanks.
