Salvation Army reports expanded services, fundraising success and Silvercrest senior housing update

Tim Campbell, chair of the local advisory board, introduced Major Mark King and described King—s recent transfer to the area. Major King said the Ogden-area Salvation Army operates a food bank, a hygiene center, a clothing closet and seasonal assistance programs. He said the local Red Kettle holiday fundraiser "raised just over $86,500," exceeding a goal set before they arrived, and thanked community partners, including Walmart and Ogden High School student government, for volunteer and fundraising support.
King said construction is under way on Salvation Army Silvercrest, a planned senior housing project with 52 one-bedroom units plus one two-bedroom manager unit; he described the project as HUD-funded and said the anticipated completion date was December of this year or January of next, weather permitting. King said further information about leasing and a HUD income-based lottery process would be released by the Salvation Army in late spring or early summer.
Council members thanked Salvation Army representatives and applauded volunteers. The presentation included an offer of printed "year in review" flyers available at a sign-in table in the meeting room.
