Missouri Senate introduces more than 20 bills and two joint resolutions; no floor debate recorded

JEFFERSON CITY, Mo. — The Missouri Senate on Thursday, Jan. 16, 2025, formally introduced more than 20 measures on a range of topics, including proposals on childhood abuse claims, protection of unborn life, daylight saving time and vehicle franchise practices. Senators offered the bills on the Senate floor; the session transcript records the introductions but shows no floor debate or recorded votes on those measures.
Senators read bill titles and numbers into the record during the introduction-of-bills portion of the session. Notable items included Senate Bill 587, offered by Senator Hudson, "an act relating to vehicle franchise practices," and Senate Bill 588, also offered by Senator Hudson, "an act relating to public contracts with certain companies." Hudson also offered Senate Joint Resolution 51 and bills described in the transcript as relating to childhood abuse actions (Senate Bill 589 and Senate Bill 590) and Senate Bill 591, "an act relating to unborn children," as well as Senate Joint Resolution 52, "a joint resolution relating to the protection of unborn life." Platt later moved that the Senate adjourn until 1 p.m. on Wednesday, Jan. 22; that motion also carried on a voice vote.
