Ramapo High student asks district to boost athletics recognition, fix soccer field and improve cafeteria food

The student said poor field conditions make play difficult and that cafeteria food quality drives some students to skip meals. “The cafeteria food has been the same since kindergarten, and it’s horrible,” the student said.
Interim Superintendent DeCarlo told the student the district has hired a part-time athletics public-relations staffer, Emily Neary, who has begun photographing and profiling athletes, and said the district celebrated the junior-varsity soccer program last fall. “We put it in this year for 2 days a week. Of course, we wanna do more,” DeCarlo said. He also said he and staff are looking into food-quality improvements.
The student described recent personal experience with club soccer recruiting and international tournaments and asked the district to showcase achievements on the district website and social media; the superintendent invited the student to share details with the PR staffer.
