White Oak accepts county grants for Heritage Hills trail paving and demolition of four properties; solicitor to send 30-day notices

The White Oak Borough engineer reported on Jan. 20 that the borough received an executed county contract for a $50,000 GEDTF grant to pave the first half of the Heritage Hills Walking Trail.
The engineer also said the borough accepted a $35,000 county grant to demolish four properties and that a grant application had been submitted for storm-sewer cleaning and televising. The engineer reported the borough is continuing legal processes to move forward with demolition of the identified properties.
Rhodes, the borough engineer, read the department highlights, including the executed contract and grant approvals. The council then moved to accept the engineer’s report and to pay Penn E and R invoice 2597, dated Dec. 20, 2024, totaling $13,255; members approved the motion by voice vote.
Ashley, the borough solicitor, reported the borough had received title work for the four properties identified for demolition and updated inspection reports from the code office. Ashley said the borough will send 30-day notices for the four properties in the next few days and will schedule public hearings on demolitions at next month’s workshop meeting.
The solicitor’s report, including the notice timeline, was accepted by motion and the council approved payment of legal invoice Tucker Arensberg invoice 685654 dated Jan. 17, 2025, totaling $6,040.
No demolition work has been performed yet; the solicitor said the borough is moving forward with notices and the legal process required before demolition.
