Resident urges White Oak leaders for police report after son's assault, solicitor says council cannot comment on active investigation

Dana Bridal, of 3108 Versailles Avenue, told the White Oak Borough Council on Jan. 20 that her son was beaten on Nov. 10 and that she has been waiting more than a month for the police report.
Bridal described facial hematomas and a concussion and said the family is now in long-term therapy. “Not 1 of your policemen or women interviewed my child. Not 1,” she said during the public-comment portion of the meeting.
The council opened public comment under the Pennsylvania Sunshine Act (65 Pa.C.S. §710.1). Ashley, the borough solicitor, told Bridal that the council cannot comment publicly about investigatory or personnel matters. “Council cannot comment in public on investigatory issues,” Ashley said, while acknowledging Bridal had requested a police report.
Bridal said she had asked for the report in December and that, she was told, the case was “under investigation” despite there being a disposition. She told the council an officer had called her about social-media postings but did not interview her son.
Ashley said she would look into why Bridal had not received the report and asked for a direct contact to follow up. “I will look into why you haven't gotten the report, and we will have some communication directly with you regarding what the status is,” Ashley said.
The exchange took place during the meeting’s public-comment period. No formal council action on the police report was taken at the meeting; the solicitor indicated staff follow-up was forthcoming.
The council did not provide additional details about the case during the public meeting because of legal limits on discussing active investigations and personnel matters.
