Trustees reviewed the library’s expense report and other business items during the Jan. 21 meeting and set the board’s next meeting for Feb. 18 at 11 a.m. on Zoom.
The director said the expense report sent to trustees used December totals but that percentages were not updated; she said she would resend a corrected report with updated month-to-month figures. The director told trustees the current budget proposal shows a 4.5% increase overall and that budgets under 5% typically do not draw extra advisory scrutiny; she said she and staff would continue to monitor and, as a courtesy, might appear before advisory if requested.
The board discussed a proposed child-safe policy; trustees asked the director to "polish the policy" and then run it by the police chief and town counsel during office hours before the board takes further action. Trustees also reviewed the library submission for the town’s annual report; they asked that the report use the Libby app name (the public-facing app) rather than the company name OverDrive.
Trustees agreed to begin work next month on library director contracts; no contract decisions were made on Jan. 21. The board set its next meeting for Tuesday, Feb. 18 at 11 a.m. on Zoom.
The board moved to adjourn and the motion carried by voice vote; the meeting concluded at 12:58 p.m.
