The commission discussed the process and timeline. Commissioners were told the recommended rate changes from the study must be submitted to and approved by the Public Service Commission before any change can take effect; the presenter and staff said prior rate changes were approved by the PSC in the spring and typically took several months from submission to effect.
Commissioner Farris moved to authorize Matt Baker to do the water-rate study; Mayor Miller seconded the motion and commissioners approved the request.
Staff said Matt Baker has performed the city’s water-rate studies previously and that the engineer will include an added table in the audit package to facilitate the work. Staff will forward supporting documents to the engineer and notify him to begin once the commission completes the authorization.
