The West Fargo City Commission approved the annual bulk purchase of water meters totaling $315,956.90 to support the completion of the city’s AMI (advanced metering infrastructure) meter replacement project.
Public Works staff said the order includes a mix of meter sizes—approximately 253 quarter-inch meters and about 30 one-inch meters among others—and that delivery would be four to six weeks after ordering. The city reported it has roughly 800 meters remaining to replace to finish the AMI rollout and expects to complete the installations by the end of the summer, subject to staffing and weather.
Commissioner Olson moved to approve the purchase and Commissioner Zundell seconded; the motion carried.
Staff said the inventory strategy of bulk purchasing early in the year has been used since 2022 and helps manage installations for new buildings and remaining residential replacements.
