Dr. Hillman briefed the Northfield Public School Board on progress in planning for the Reimagine Northfield High School bond projects during the Jan. 13 meeting.
Hillman said the core planning team met Dec. 17 and Jan. 8 and that board members were invited to attend school tours on Jan. 21 (two regional tours) and Jan. 22 (a tour focused on athletic facilities). "Board members have been invited to join one or both of those tours," Hillman said.
Hillman described a partnership update that references the district's existing contracts with architects and engineers and reported the district has a construction management agreement with Knutsen Construction to manage bidding and construction processes. He emphasized that the construction manager will help manage the process rather than actually build the project.
Community engagement remains active. Hillman said the core planning group processed 19 pages of community feedback collected in earlier sessions; the architectural firm organized responses into themes and six or seven subgroups reviewed the material. Hillman said additional student input sessions and a Spanish-language community session are scheduled for Jan. 22.
Hillman also said the district has launched a Reimagine project website (norfieldschools.org/forward/reimagine) and archived the referendum site (norfieldschools.org/reimaginebond) for comparison to project plans.
Board member Jean Dominique Senard asked how the feedback is being processed. Hillman said the architects compiled the comments into thematic pieces and the core planning group is reviewing them, and that feedback from the next round of sessions will be incorporated.
Hillman closed by noting construction bidding is expected to begin next year and that coordination with City of Northfield departments is underway to align permitting and planning.
