Superintendent presents Purple Star school recognitions, ESPN/Special Olympics honor and announces CPR Day Miami event

Schools acknowledged included MAST (Maritime and Science Technology Academy), Miami Senior High, Miami Killian, Southwest Miami Senior High, North Miami Beach Senior High and several others across the county.
The superintendent also described the Unified Champion School designation for Southwest Senior High, noting that the school was selected for its Unified Sports and inclusion work. School and district leaders attended the recognition and described student leadership, staff involvement and community partnerships that supported the designation.
In addition, the district announced CPR Day Miami, a life‑saving training event scheduled for Saturday, Jan. 25, in partnership with Jackson Health, the American Red Cross and the American Heart Association. District staff said the event will run registration and 30-minute hands-only CPR training sessions at multiple county sites and will offer, for the first time, three-hour CPR/AED certification courses at a modest fee thanks to sponsorship from Cigna.
