Jackson EMC presents Gwinnett County with margin refund checks; cooperative highlights local returns

Jackson Electric Membership Corporation presented Gwinnett County with a margin refund check during the Jan. 7 Board of Commissioners meeting, a cooperative practice Jackson EMC said returns excess margins to members.
Kevin Dodson, business development manager for Jackson EMC Gwinnett, said the cooperative's revenues above operating costs are used to improve its distribution system and that, since 1938, Jackson EMC has returned more than $220 million in margin refunds to members. Dodson told the board that, "Just in the past six years, Jackson EMC has returned almost $987,000 back to Gwinnett County." He thanked the county for the partnership and said Jackson EMC will continue to support local service delivery.
The presentation took place near the start of the business session; Chairwoman Hendrickson stepped forward to accept the check on behalf of the county.
