Courthouse renovation: geothermal lines, elevator inspection underway; completion eyed for spring 2025

The Callahan County facilities committee told the commissioners court on Jan. 13 that courthouse renovation and annex work is in progress, with geothermal piping and sensors next on the schedule and an elevator already installed and through an initial inspection.
“The work is in progress on the courthouse,” the facilities committee presenter said. The presenter said geothermal contractors are preparing to charge the water lines and county‑retained environmental technicians will install sensors for pump monitoring so crews can pressure‑test lines and check for leaks before closing walls.
The presenter said the elevator has been installed and passed a first inspection; final inspection will come after remaining electrical and finishing work. On timing, the committee said a full completion date is “looking like maybe April, May” of 2025, but that schedule remained somewhat tentative because some finishing inspections and electrical work were still pending.
Commissioners asked about elevator framing and final inspection steps; the presenter said those items were on the remaining work list. No contract amendments or additional funding requests were presented at the Jan. 13 meeting.
Commissioners placed the update on the record; the project will return to the committee or court if schedule, scope or budget changes are proposed.
