FAA airport grant application Director George Erickson asked commissioners to authorize submission of an FAA grant application for design services to relocate Airport Road, Taxiway A and Lawrence Hayden Road in support of the approved airport master plan. The total project request is $543,327; the county’s share is 5% ($27,167). Commissioners approved a motion authorizing the department’s FAA authorized representative to sign and forward the application. (The application deadline was noted as June 1.)
Woods at Myrtle Point boundary-line adjustment The department also presented a record-plat boundary-line adjustment for Woods at Myrtle Point, Section 1, Phase 2. The developer reconfigured lots and the public right-of-way shown on earlier plats is no longer needed. Erickson’s office said no lots had been sold and no construction had occurred in the recorded right-of-way. Commissioners agreed a notice should be sent to nearby residents and the developer should be asked to notify neighbors; staff will return the item for final action after that outreach.
Capital amendments and project closeouts Commissioners approved a set of budget realignments and project closeouts from Public Works and Recreation & Parks, including: - Moving $64,731 to complete boiler replacement at Old Hollywood School (critical building maintenance project PF1307); - Closing multiple small pier/landing projects (Fox Harbor Landing, St. George’s Island Pier, River Springs landing) and returning unspent balances to capital reserves; - Closing the Saint Andrews Area D project and returning $22,020 to the capital reserve; and - A budget amendment transferring $1,753 from supplemental reserves back to countywide maintenance grant accounts following completion of pier projects.
Why it matters: The FAA grant supports design work needed to implement the airport master plan and could enable future airport improvements; the other actions finalize several capital projects and reallocate funds to complete needed building repairs.
Vote details The FAA grant application authorization passed on a motion from Commissioner Cynthia Jones, seconded by Commissioner Todd B. Morgan. The Myrtle Point boundary adjustment will be returned to the board for final action after developer notification.
