The board heard that Cheyenne Hite of the tribes writes the curriculum and teachers provided feedback on lesson usage prior to the winter break as part of the MOU implementation. The district said it will continue to collaborate on any new curriculum written by the tribe’s curriculum director.
Instruction staff reported high‑dosage tutoring launched at all four elementary schools: a 10‑week program for K–3 students identified as “rising readers” with 19 tutors working with about 60 students. Staff said tutors completed training in the science of reading and include a mix of licensed teachers and instructional assistants. The grant that funds the tutoring runs through March 2026; staff said the district will consider a second 10‑week session depending on available funds and program timing.
Board members asked about program measures; staff said baseline assessments and progress monitoring are in place to measure student growth over the 10‑week intervention.
