FCPS Racial Equity Committee schedules April community forum; SOKA students to shape subcommittee document

Separately, the SOKA subcommittee reported progress on a document intended to be authored by students. Subcommittee members said they created a framework and now plan to bring SOKA students into the drafting process so the final product can be student-created and used as a resume entry. “We wanted to get them framework so that we're starting from nothing … We came up with the idea of letting them be the actual publisher,” a SOKA subcommittee member said.
Committee members discussed outreach to local organizations to populate the resource fair and options for promoting the event through newsletters and social channels. They set the next committee meeting for Feb. 5 and encouraged members to forward suggestions for community partners.
