Murfreesboro City Council on Jan. 16 approved a package of ordinances, contract awards and budgeted purchases ranging from a rezoning and sewer-allocation variance to vehicle and radio equipment purchases.
The council voted unanimously on a second and final reading of Ordinance 24046, an amendment to the city's ethics code, and conducted a public hearing and first reading on a rezoning request for roughly four acres along Joby Jackson Parkway that would allow an extended-stay hotel. Planning staff said the Commercial Highway zoning requested would permit the hotel and that two adjacent property owners consented to rezoning of their parcels; the council approved the rezoning on first reading.
The council also approved a sewer-allocation variance for a mixed-use development on Greenland Drive, near Middle Tennessee State University, that staff said adds two units of sewer capacity and that water-resources staff confirmed capacity in the basin.
