Councilmember Britton seconded the motion, and the council voted unanimously, 6-0, to approve it. The council did not disclose the name of the candidate or provide contract terms during the public session.
The vote authorized only negotiation; the record shows no final contract approval in open session on Jan. 6. The council adjourned at about 4:30 p.m.
