The application seeks to repair a damaged storefront, reinstall existing signage and lighting, replace a damaged column with a cast or reconstituted limestone column, replace broken glass, and repair a stone header using a nonstructural filler and pins. Staff recommended approval of COA 25-009 conditioned on submission of final cut sheets and material specifications for administrative review.
Chris Follett, an architect with PSA Architects representing the owner, told the commission the team would pin and grout cracks in the stone header, and that one visible crack predates the crash. Follett said the replacement column will be cast to match the original as closely as possible and that the project team is looking for an appropriate wood door that meets size and historic-appropriateness requirements.
Commissioners discussed whether the proposed material for the replacement column — described as reconstituted cast limestone made from Portland cement, aggregates and admixtures — would be acceptable and asked for product literature, pinning details and door cut sheets before staff final approval. The commission approved the application with those conditions.
