Steve Stoler, Plano's media relations director, said the annual State of the City was postponed because of winter storm Cora and will be held Tuesday, Jan. 28, at the Robinson Fine Arts Center on Alma Drive. He said the Plano FACES Fair will begin at 5:45 p.m., followed by the State of the City address at 6:30 p.m.
The city announced a partnership with Enviro World to offer discounted rain barrels and compost bins. Annual sale prices listed in the segment were $68 for a 55-gallon rain barrel and $53 for an 82-gallon compost bin; orders close Saturday, March 15, while supplies last. The city is offering a free rain-barrel and compost-bin installation workshop on Tuesday, Feb. 11, from 6 to 8 p.m. at the Plano Environmental Education Center and directed listeners to plano.gov/seedprograms for more information.
Stoler also said the Little Sweetheart Dance, described as "an enchanted evening of music and dancing for fathers or other significant males in the family and young ladies," will be held at 7 p.m. Feb. 1 at the Plano Event Center, 2000 East Spring Creek Parkway. The segment closed with a pet profile: "Damien," a 6-year-old special-needs Rottweiler described as affectionate but with joint-related medical issues; listeners were directed to share.plano.gov/petsforadoption to see other animals available for adoption.
All items were presented as city announcements in a weekly news update; the segment did not include ticketing details for the dance, workshop registration limits, or the shelter's medical or adoption fees.
