The Manchester School District Committee on Finance and Facilities approved several agenda items during its Jan. 8 meeting, including FY26 capital improvement planning funds, an athletics services contract and multiple routine financial items.
The committee voted to forward the FY26 capital improvement project planning funds to the full School Committee after increasing the proposed total from $6,450,000 to $6,600,000 by adding $150,000 to the deferred-maintenance line. Committee members then approved the award of the elementary soccer league administration contract to Manchester U Sports following staff recommendation and discussion of the three bids the district received. The committee also accepted a $17,000 donation from the Red Sox Foundation to support middle-school softball and baseball programs.
Other routine approvals on the consent portion of the agenda included acceptance of the treasurer’s report and minutes, certification of the monthly manifests and payroll and authorization of city services and accounts-payable items listed on the agenda. All motions carried by voice vote with “ayes have it” recorded in the transcript; specific roll-call tallies were not given.
The committee’s actions will be delivered to the full School Committee where required by policy for final approval or placement on the district budget process.
Votes recorded in committee included motions to approve minutes and reports, to award the athletics contract, to accept the donation and to forward the CIP request. Each motion was moved and seconded; where the transcript named the mover or seconder, that information is recorded in the actions list below. The transcript does not record numeric vote tallies or individual roll-call votes for these motions.
