School-year calendar (IC): Changes to the IC policy reflect contract days for staff (189 teacher days, 183 support staff days in Bedford's draft) and coordinate calendars with career and technical education centers; the administration noted statutory limits on calendar alignment with partner districts.
Health education and parental notification: Revisions follow House Bill 1312, clarifying parental-notification and opt-out procedures for health-education units that address sexual health, sexually transmitted infections and gender/sexuality topics. Bedford's draft maintains a process that allows parents to opt out via email, phone call or meeting (administration retains a written record of verbal opt-outs in the student's file).
