Mobility Plan 2050 nears completion; staff asks jurisdictions to verify project details

TPO staff told the Technical Committee on Jan. 14 that the Mobility Plan 2050 update is in its final stages and that staff needs jurisdictions to verify submitted projects and horizon years to produce a fiscally constrained plan.
Mike Conger (presenter) said roughly 120 projects are rollovers from the existing plan and about 40 are new applications. Staff and consultants have been evaluating projects for horizon placement, eligibility and cost against revenue forecasts by five‑year horizons to 2050. The next steps call for a draft plan to go to TDOT for 30‑day state review and a concurrent federal/public review during March, followed by adoption in April to meet air‑quality conformity deadlines by the end of May.
Conger asked each jurisdiction to review the spreadsheet provided — staff had sorted projects by county — and flag discrepancies in project names, termini or desired horizon years. He noted that project selection considered project rollover status, eligibility, consultant scoring and fiscal constraint; smaller projects sometimes fit into constrained revenue windows where larger items did not. Staff said they will schedule monthly updates between now and adoption and are available to meet with sponsors individually.
No formal action was taken; staff asked members to return comments quickly so TPO staff can finalize the draft for TDOT and federal review.
