The applicant’s representative from Archer Signs presented mock-ups showing how the lighting would wash the tower and wall elevations. City staff expressed concern about potential glow and impacts to adjacent properties and recommended limiting operation hours; the commission added a condition requiring the lights be off when the business is not operating.

City planning staff said the commission could make the lights a condition of approval and suggested they be off when the facility is closed. Commissioners asked technical questions about brightness, color and whether the LED fixtures would be dimmable; the applicant said the fixtures are a stand‑alone blue LED and not dimmable.
After discussion, the commission approved the application with the condition that the lights operate only during business hours. The roll call was unanimous in favor.
The condition will be recorded in the permit; staff said they would work with the applicant on operational details and hours to minimize impacts to nearby properties.
