Representative Alana Griffith (R–House District 60) presented House Bill 159 to the House Local Government Committee, saying the bill would allow rural improvement districts to fund routine maintenance of existing public facilities, not only capital improvements. "Essentially, right now the only type of rural improvement district we can have is an improvement district which means that in order to establish a rural improvement district you have to have some sort of improvement," Griffith told the committee.
