A chamber staff member told senators, “I am directed by the house of representatives to inform the senate of the following actions. The following house bills were on this day read 3 times and passed, title in history agreed to, and are herewith transmitted to the senate for concurrence: House Bill 32, House Bill 47, House Bill 54, House Bill 57 and House Bill 95.” The announcement did not include bill text or summaries.
The clerk’s reading also announced numerous first readings and committee referrals. The clerk stated that “House Bills 3247-5455 are introduced, read first time and referred to committee,” and that a string of Senate and joint measures were likewise introduced and referred; portions of the clerk’s listing of bill numbers were garbled in the transcript and are recorded here as read aloud in the chamber.
Senators used floor time to announce committee meeting schedules. Senator Gault said Natural Resources will meet in room 303 at 3 p.m. for executive action and a presentation from Penmore. Senator Temple announced Highways and Transportation at 3 p.m.; Senator Mandeville announced Senate Local Government at 3 p.m. and that Section A will meet Friday. Senator Lentz said Public Health will meet after Finance and Claims in room 317 and that Section B meets at 8 a.m. tomorrow. Senator Esp said Section F meets at 8:30 a.m. in room 317B to continue consideration of House Bill 12. Senator Mansell said State Administration meets today at 3 p.m. in room 335 for two bills and a presentation. Senator Glenn said Senate Finance and Claims will meet upon adjournment in room 317 to hear House Bill 1. Senator Fuller said Senate Education meets tomorrow at 3 p.m. in room 317. Other scheduling announcements were made on the floor for budget subcommittees and standing committee sections; times and rooms were given orally.
Fifty senators were recorded present when the secretary took roll. The final action of the floor session was the motion to adjourn. “I move the senate stand adjourned until January 16th, Thursday, legislative day 9 at 1 o’clock,” Majority Leader McGilvray said. The chamber adopted the motion by voice vote; the transcript records a voice "aye" and no recorded roll-call tally.
