External auditors give Chino Valley Unified a clean opinion for 2023–24; Measure G spending found allowable

The Chino Valley Unified School District’s external auditors reported unmodified opinions for the 2023–24 fiscal year and found no internal control deficiencies or instances of noncompliance, the district announced at its Jan. 16 board meeting.
Scott Braddock of the audit firm Ed Bailey presented results noting unmodified opinions — the audit equivalent of a clean opinion — on the district’s financial statements, federal award programs and state compliance areas. “An unmodified opinion is essentially a clean audit opinion,” Braddock told the board.
Auditors said they examined federal programs including education stabilization funds tied to COVID-19 and the special education cluster and found no compliance exceptions. The annual audit also included a performance audit of Measure G, the district’s bond building fund; auditors tested a sample of bond-funded expenditures and reported the sampled items were allowable under the bond measure and appropriate for the listed projects.
No audit findings were reported to the board at the meeting. Board members thanked the auditor and district staff for completing the review.
