Lowndes County commissioners awarded a contract for six compact SUVs to the lowest bidder, Casperts, in the total amount of $160,122.
Staff said the vehicles will go to magistrate court, inspections and public works and will replace older, high-mileage equipment. Three bids met specifications and Casperts submitted the low bid. Commissioners asked whether the vehicles were current-model-year; staff said they would procure whatever vehicles are available now.
A motion to award the bid to Casperts passed by a 4–1 recorded indication from the chair: the meeting transcript notes the vote as “4 to 1.” The board directed staff to proceed with the purchase and replacement of the identified vehicles.
