Lowndes County commissioners approved an amendment to the county’s broadband infrastructure agreement with Internet service provider Windstream to incorporate updated guidance from the U.S. Treasury.
Staff said the Treasury issued updated guidance for broadband infrastructure projects funded under federal programs; that guidance was passed through the state Office of Planning and Budget to the county. The county’s amendment to the Windstream agreement transmits the updated Treasury guidance and practices into the county-level agreement between Windstream and Lowndes County, staff said.
The board approved the amendment and authorized the chairman to sign the document. Staff described the amendment as administrative—passing along federal guidance—and did not identify changes to the county’s project scope or funding in the meeting.
