County authorizes GIFA loan modification extending sewer rehab completion to June 2026

Lowndes County commissioners approved a modification to a Georgia Environmental Finance Authority (GIFA) loan originally issued for rehabilitation of the sewer collection system and related appurtenances.
Staff told the board the project took longer than initially anticipated and that after consulting with GIFA it was recommended to modify the loan to extend the completion date for the manhole and lift station rehabilitation to June 2026. Staff recommended approval and asked the board to authorize the chairman to sign the modification documents; the board approved the request by voice vote.
The modification extends the project timeline and allows the county to continue work and seek reimbursement under the existing GIFA loan terms; staff said they coordinated with GIFA on the schedule adjustment.
