Lindbergh Schools technology and instructional staff described a broad rollout of artificial intelligence tools for students and staff and showed district-built AI applications that use internal curriculum and the district’s Model of Instruction.
Colin (last name not specified), an instructional-technology staff member, and other district leaders described multiple workstreams: student-facing access to a Securly-hosted AI chat (activated in May), AI guidance for AP research and AP seminar classes, a district “MOI simulator” for staff coaching and feedback, and a Google-based notebook tool (NotebookLM/Gemini) that can ingest district curriculum documents to produce summaries, podcasts and on-demand guidance for teachers. Colin said the district’s Securly AI service has logged a high volume of student queries since activation and that district deployments use school Google accounts so content does not train external public models.
District staff emphasized pedagogy and controls. Teaching staff reviewed acceptable and unacceptable uses tied to AP rules and classroom expectations; staff also demonstrated how carefully structured prompts (for example by specifying the student’s grade, context and a persona for the AI) can produce differentiated explanations or practice problems at multiple reading levels. The presentation showed teacher-facing tools that generate quick, MOI-aligned coaching feedback from classroom observations and a curriculum notebook that can synthesize multiple documents and produce a short audio summary for a teacher or department.
Administrators said district accounts and Google-based solutions keep data within the district’s managed environment and do not train external AI models. The district is piloting AI uses in secondary research and writing classes and building teacher supports (instructional-coach-aligned prompts and “personas”) to reduce time spent on administrative tasks and to focus teacher time on instruction. Lindbergh staff said they are organizing training and capacity-building for librarians, instructional coaches and other staff, and have begun statewide conversations through a group the district is convening (Show Me AI).
Board members praised the work and asked about privacy and scalability; staff said Google NotebookLM uses the district Google accounts (content stays in the district bucket) and Securly’s student chat is provisioned through the district and does not train public models. Staff said they will expand professional learning and continue to develop curated, curriculum-linked AI personas and notebooks for teachers.
