Marion County Library highlights TOT Spot, Ready to Read program for young children

"I'm so excited to share with you today that we do have a early literacy program that starts at birth. It's called ready to read, and we encourage parents for to develop that early literacy brain development to read to their child, sing to their child, and talk with their child," Sigg said. "Any of our librarians here would love to talk to you about the program and provide your ready to read bag to you."
Sigg described the TOT Spot as stocked with board books, picture books and an initial selection of chapter books suitable for early elementary readers. She said the Ready to Read program begins at birth and focuses on building early brain connections through reading, singing and talking to children so they are prepared for school.
The presentation emphasized staff availability: Sigg said librarians can speak with parents about the Ready to Read program and distribute a Ready to Read bag to families. The remarks occurred at the library’s headquarters location in Ocala.
The library did not specify enrollment numbers, funding sources, or a schedule for events and storytimes during the remarks.
