The Design and Development Review Commission voted to grant a certificate of design approval for 1220 Senate Street and to delegate review of any State Historic Preservation Office recommendations to staff.
Staff had asked that the item be moved from the consent agenda to the regular agenda so the commission could amend the recommendation to specify that any recommendations resulting from SHPO review be handled at the staff level. After brief discussion and no public comment, a commissioner moved that the certificate be granted with that condition; the motion was seconded and carried in a roll-call vote.
The motion, as recorded in the meeting transcript, asked that the certificate of design approval be granted and that “any further changes to the design as well as any recommendations by SHPO be reviewed by staff.” The commission recorded unanimous approval in the roll call: Miss Sims Branham, Mister Greenberg, Miss Jayco, Mister McKenzie, Mister Salibi, Mister Shelton and Miss Thomas all voted yes.
The commission did not record additional conditions beyond delegating SHPO-related recommendations to staff and compliance with the applicable design guidelines. No public speakers addressed this case after it was moved to the regular agenda.
