Recreation and Parks Commission adopts resolution honoring Commissioner Anne Batterson

The City of Santa Maria Recreation and Parks Commission on Jan. 14 adopted a resolution formally recognizing Commissioner Anne Batterson for seven years of service to the commission and the community.
The resolution, read aloud by Chair Lopez, noted Batterson’s appointment in 2017 by Council Member Mike Cordero, her service as a commission chair and as the commission’s representative to the Play Board of Directors, and her participation in numerous Recreation and Parks capital projects including Aquapaca Park, the Santa Maria Sports Complex, DeJoy Pocket Park and the Japanese Community Center. Commissioners presented Batterson with an engraved vase at the meeting.
Chair Lopez read the resolution language during the meeting and the commission approved it by roll call. Commissioners Carey, Batterson, Diaz, Godinho and Chair (Locum/Lopez) all responded “yes” when the clerk called their names. After the vote, commissioners offered personal remarks thanking Batterson for her service; Batterson briefly addressed the commission and thanked staff and colleagues.
The resolution text states the commission’s appreciation for Batterson’s leadership and community involvement and was passed and adopted at the regular meeting on Jan. 14, 2025. No conditions, amendments or follow-up actions were recorded in the meeting minutes for this item.
