The City of Imperial City Council on Jan. 15 opened and closed a public hearing and approved the introduction and first reading of an ordinance authorizing a special tax for Community Facilities District (CFD) 2024-1 for the Morningstar subdivision, and unanimously approved multiple staff recommendations including public-safety policies, grant agreements and event permits.
The actions are intended to provide a local funding mechanism for park and open-space maintenance in Morningstar and to formalize city staffing and safety programs. Council members voted 5-0 on the ordinance first reading and on each of the other items acted on during the meeting.
Among the items approved were: the Sun Runners Car Club permit and partial street closures for the March 22 car show at Eagle Park; formal appointment and a 5% stipend for the cross-connection control program coordinator to meet State Water Resources Control Board requirements; authorization for the city manager to appoint the city engineer; adoption of a…
