A Gresham business owner told the Troutdale Parks Advisory Committee he will provide pet‑waste station management at Columbia off‑leash dog park free of charge and urged improved signage and a Google Maps listing to raise public awareness.
"Our company would like to offer pet waste station management to the park completely free of charge. This would include regular maintenance, restocking of supplies, and waste removal," Kenny Gibson said during public comment, identifying his business as Portland Pet Waste Pros.
Committee members and staff welcomed the offer and discussed existing promotion and wayfinding gaps. Jonah Jacobson said the parks group has discussed greater awareness and that the city can pursue improved signage and an online listing; he suggested the committee could invite the grant writer to discuss funding options for park improvements.
Jacobson also reported a capital plan to trench a water line to the dog park this year. Committee members proposed formally naming the Columbia dog park to improve searchability and wayfinding; members asked staff to add a naming discussion to a future agenda and to coordinate web and map updates with city IT staff.
Frank Simons and other volunteers offered to help with maintenance tasks such as wood‑chip spreading and park cleanups. The committee supported exploring volunteer and business partnerships for upkeep and promotion.
