Board recognizes support staff and educators; student representative reports on upcoming activities

The Lincoln County School Board opened recognitions at its Jan. 6 meeting, honoring support staff, a teacher of the month and a retired educator, and heard a student representative give a brief update on high school activities.
Doctor Golden (presenter) recognized Miranda Manderson (support staff) for seven years of service as an educational assistant at Flintville School and noted she is completing an elementary education degree and plans to join the school staff later in the year. The board also recognized Tammy Haney as Teacher (Counselor) of the Month at Blanche School for her counseling work and family support efforts; the presenter credited Trace Golden and Julie Miller for supporting Haney’s work.
Board member Mister Miller presented a retired educator recognition for Emily Pierce, who served as teacher, curriculum coordinator and then principal at Unity School before retiring in June 2024. The presenter described Pierce’s long career in the district and her impact on students who later became professionals.
Student board representative Ari Patel reported Atlantic City High School (listed in the meeting as Lincoln County High School activities) was beginning the semester with homecoming-related activities next week, and that FBLA and HOSA clubs are preparing for state competitions this spring. He also noted recent basketball wins and upcoming games.
These recognitions were ceremonial and did not require board action.
