School committee adopts 2024 year-end report, advances superintendent search and screening committee changes, and votes to enter executive session

The committee unanimously approved the 2024 year-end (annual town) report on a motion by Susan, seconded by Kyla. Members then reviewed proposed recruitment materials for the superintendent search; on a motion by Kyla, seconded by Chris, the committee approved the recruitment letter as amended to solicit applications. Members discussed the composition of the screening committee for the superintendent search; on a motion by Susan, seconded by Kyla, the committee voted to add a curriculum director to the screening committee and to remove the executive administrative assistant slot originally listed.
The committee approved items by consensus as outlined in the meeting packet on a motion by Jamie, seconded by Susan. Finally, the committee voted to enter executive session under the authority of Massachusetts General Laws Chapter 30A, Section 21(a)(2) to discuss collective bargaining strategy with the Association of Cafeteria Workers of Hopkinton, SEIU Local 888, and under Section 21(a)(3) to review executive session minutes from several 2024 meetings. The motion to enter executive session was made by Kyla and seconded by Jamie; members voted by roll call in the affirmative and the committee did not return to open session.
Ending: The committee scheduled follow-up items for its next regular meeting and confirmed the select board will discuss the budget at its meeting next week.
