The Senate’s presiding officer announced temporary committee appointments to cover members who will be absent on specified dates.
On the floor the presiding officer said he was appointing Senator Paine "to join the Committee on Natural Resources to temporarily replace Senator Gowen for Tuesday, January 21, 2025." He also named Senator Kavanaugh to the Committee on Health and Human Services to temporarily replace Senator Schamp for Wednesday, January 22, 2025, and appointed Senator Farnsworth to the Committee on Regulatory Affairs and Government Efficiency to temporarily replace Senator Carroll for January 22, 2025. Senator Leach was named to temporarily replace Senator Carroll as vice chairman of that committee for the same date.
The appointments were announced on the floor and entered on the journal; the transcript records the appointments as announcements by the presiding officer, with no floor votes recorded at that time.
"Welcome to my committee," the presiding officer said after making one of the appointments.
These temporary assignments are limited to the dates stated on the floor and were described as replacements for the named members during their absences. The journal entry will reflect the appointments and the dates at which the temporary replacements take effect.
