District reports all schools met state reading progress-monitoring threshold

Assessment director Jeff Morris told the board that the state requires progress monitoring every other week for students "well below" grade level and once a month for students "below." Morris contrasted the district's performance with statewide figures: last year the state average for meeting that threshold was roughly 33 percent; this year the statewide average rose to about 64 percent. "In Box Elder School District, we made 100% of our schools met that state goal for progress monitoring reading of our students," Morris told the board, and he thanked teachers, paraprofessionals and administrators for the steps taken to reach full compliance.
The presentation credited district staff and resource allocation for the improvement. The board acknowledged the accomplishment and asked staff to continue monitoring student progress and to keep the board informed.
